A woman has died after being hit by a Transperth bus on the Causeway in East Perth.

Police said the bus was heading northbound over the Causeway around 9pm on Sunday when it struck the woman after she stepped onto the road.

The woman suffered critical injuries and was taken to Royal Perth Hospital, but died a short time later.

She has not yet been identified.

Police are appealing to the public for information about the crash.

Major Crash Squad investigators are urging anyone who saw the incident, or who has information relating to it, to contact Crime Stoppers.

They have also asked anyone with dashcam, CCTV or mobile phone vision to provide them with the footage.
