Martha’s new show promises to enforce the idea, “If you can’t take the heat, get out of the kitchen.”
The first look at Martha and humanitarian chef José Andrés’s new show for hot-headed chefs, Yes, Chef!, was released on Instagram on March 20, and now we’re even more excited to tune into the premiere on April 28.
“Kitchens are like a pressure cooker,” Martha says at the beginning of the trailer, immediately followed by a clip of a chef screaming in frustration in a walk-in refrigerator. Martha then goes on to say, “These chefs are divas!” Back-to-back clips show this “diva” behavior as chefs yell and throw things around the kitchen.
But because the goal of this show is to cool down the hot tempers, Martha and José round out the trailer saying that if the chefs don’t get their act together, “they’re toast,” which Martha says while wielding a blow torch, of course.
Yes, Chef! is a cooking competition that brings together hot-tempered but talented chefs from all over the culinary world. The series challenges them not only on their cooking skills in high-stakes environments but also on their ability to overcome their egos, intensity in the kitchen, and short-tempered personalities that hinder their full potential.
The chef who shows the biggest improvement in cooking, teamwork, and behavior will win the $250,000 grand prize, sponsored by the popular granola brand Purely Elizabeth.
Yes, Chef! premieres Monday, April 28, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC.
