It Just Got Easier to Fly Nonstop to Seoul—What to Know

It’s time to book that bucket-lister flight to Seoul.

Alaska Airlines announced a new nonstop flights between Seattle–Tacoma International Airport (SEA) and Seoul Incheon International Airport (ICN) starting September 12. Service between destinations will be handled by Hawaiian Airlines.

The new route from Seattle to Seoul will depart at 3:25 p.m. on Wednesdays through Sundays, and arrive at 6:50 p.m. local time. Return flights from Seoul to Seattle depart at 8:50 p.m. and arrive at 3:00 p.m. on Mondays through Sundays. The flights will begin before Chuseok (October 15), also known as Korean Thanksgiving Day, which celebrates both the harvest and their ancestors.

Alaska’s plans include having 12 nonstop flights to international destinations from Seattle by 2030. Nonstop flights to Tokyo start May 12. The company’s Seattle hub has 104 nonstop flights destinations in North America.

“With our robust network, we can connect our guests through our global gateway in Seattle for convenient nonstop service to Seoul and Tokyo, with additional connections to other Asian destinations with our global partners,” said Andrew Harrison, chief commercial officer at Alaska Airlines in a press release. “As we grow our global network from Seattle in the coming years, we’ll announce new international routes to dynamic destinations that we know our guests are going to love to visit.”

Tickets can now be booked at both airline websites.

Late last year, Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines merged, expanding the reach of both airlines, especially from primary Alaska hubs, like Seattle. The merger allows for status matching for members of both airlines and passengers can now redeem miles earned with Alaska on Hawaiian Airlines. The two will eventually become a single loyalty program.
