When I want a vacation that feels like a true escape, I go to the desert. In fact, I go to one every year. Whether I’m hseaded to the red rock landscapes of Utah, the otherworldly terrain of Joshua Tree, or the sun-soaked expanses of Arizona, the dry heat of the desert always makes me feel at peace — instantly. 

But, don’t let the beautiful sunrise and sunset pictures fool you. The harsh climate requires thoughtful packing to stay both comfortable and safe.
