FKA Twigs blames team after abruptly canceling North American tour dates over visa issues: 'Truly devastated'

FKA Twigs has apologized to fans and blamed members of her production team after canceling her North American tour dates at the last minute due to visa issues.

The artist, whose full name is Tahliah Barnett, announced the news on Tuesday in a series of Instagram Story videos, telling her followers that despite the “absolutely incredible” experience of the European leg of her Eusexua Tour, she will have to postpone performances in the United States and Canada.

“Behind the scenes, it has been challenging with production and the more practical sides of putting this tour together,” she said. “Today, I was informed that production did not fill out the correct paperwork in a timely manner for us to have our visas to come to the USA and perform. So that means that by no choice of my own, I will have to pull out of my New York, Chicago, and Toronto shows.”

The artist clarified that while she faced issues only with her U.S. visa, she is also postponing her Toronto shows “because of routing and just the complex beast that touring is.”

FKA Twigs has been touring off the back of her long-awaited third album, Eusexua, which arrived in January. After kicking things off in Prague earlier this month, the singer was set to touch down in the U.S. on Wednesday with a show at Chicago’s Salt Shed, followed by dates in New York and Toronto.

Now, the performances have been rescheduled. The March 26 and March 27 Chicago shows are now set for June 24 and 25, while the New York shows on April 3 and 4 have been moved to April 23 and 24.

FKA Twigs will announce the rescheduled Toronto dates shortly, a representative for the artist told Entertainment Weekly on Wednesday.

The “Cellophane” singer is still due to perform at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in California next month, and her previously scheduled San Francisco and Mexico City dates are unaffected by the visa issue.

“I don’t take this lightly. I’m completely devastated, to be honest with you, and completely heartbroken,” the singer said in her video. “All I want to do is to be there with you, bring Eusexua to you. I’ve not performed in the USA since 2019, and it really feels like a home away from home, and this is just such a huge blow, and I feel super let down.”

The “Two Weeks”  singer added that she is “looking into how and why this happened” and making sure she has assistance in correcting the issue.

Growing emotional, FKA Twigs told her followers, “I can’t wait to bring Eusexua to you. It’s truly been one of the greatest achievements of my life. It’s been this amazing, incredible, spiritual, enlightening whirlwind, and all I want is to be with you and be performing with you. So I’m truly devastated, and I’m so sorry for everyone if this has affected your plans.”

Thanking fans for their understanding, she promised to return “harder and stronger than ever.”
