If your lunch or dinner isn’t complete without a crisp can of soda, you may want to check the label before taking a sip. The United States Food and Drug Administration announced a recall of more than 10,000 cans of Coca-Cola due to contamination of foreign matter.

The recall was initiated on March 6, 2025, and affects 12-count packs of Coca-Cola Original Taste. Each can included in the recall has a UPC of 0 49000-00634 6, while the packaging has a UPC of 0 49000-02890 4. The product was distributed in Illinois and Wisconsin.

On March 24, 2025, the FDA classified the recall as a Class II threat, which is “a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote.”

The product was recalled because it may contain pieces of plastic. If you have the soda in your home, throw it away immediately to avoid potentially ingesting the foreign material.
