Break out the calzones, because Adam Scott is addressing that popular Parks and Recreation and Severance crossover fan theory.
The actor, 51, was asked to weigh in on whether or not his Parks character Ben Wyatt and his Severance character Mark Scout were secretly connected while visiting Jimmy Kimmel Live on Thursday.
“Your character on Parks and Rec, they’ve connected to your character on Severance. You know about this?” Host Jimmy Kimmel asked the actor. “So there are clues there in things that you said to Leslie on the show that somehow apply to Severance.”

The late-night host is referring to a social media theory that draws parallels between the premise of Severance and a 2014 episode of Parks and Recreation, where Ben floats the idea to wife Leslie Knope (Amy Poehler) that they should keep their work and personal lives separate.
Scott agreed that he’d heard of this theory before. “And it actually is pretty close,” he admitted. “The thing my character was sort of pitching to Leslie does sound sort of like Severance.”
To bust the theory once and for all, Kimmel doubled down and asked, “But that is a coincidence?” To which Scott confirmed, “Yes.”
It’s not the first time that the two series have been suspected of being somehow linked together over the years. Severance’s “Lumon is Listening” animated video also reminded fans of the claymation video that Ben made during a depressive spiral in a 2012 Parks and Rec episode.
Scott also reacted to the idea that Parks and Rec’s robotic Congressman Murray (Adam J. Harrington), whom Ben and April (Aubrey Plaza) both worked for in season 5, was secretly living in the world of Severance as part of a recent fan theory video for Entertainment Weekly.
“I mean, this is a great theory and would make a lot of sense,” he said at the time. “And would bring Congressman Murray back into the fold and I think he’s been gone far too long. Clearly an android of some sort and we need answers.”
Scott starred as Ben Wyatt, the impeached mayor of a small Minnesota town and creator of Cones of Dunshire, for five seasons from 2010 until its finale in 2015. He also returned for the series’ pandemic reunion special in 2020. He has played Mark (both versions) on Severance since its first season in 2022.
