There was a lot going on during the record-setting Deal or No Deal Island finale, as David Genat took home $5.8 million in a pulse-racing game against the banker. We already revealed all the crazy things that were said and done that did not make it to TV on the episode, but there was one other incident in which the banker battled someone — or something — other than David Genat.
Chrissy Teigen was the new banker for season 2, and settled into her role in the Panamanian Temple relatively seamlessly. But it was not without some drama. At one point during a break in filming, Teigen started screaming. The sudden cause of the screams? It turned out a grasshopper had flown up her dress. The star continued yelling and dancing around the set trying to get the intruder out. Finally, Teigen’s makeup artist came to the rescue — dashing onto the stage and reaching up the Banker’s dress to dislodge the unwelcome guest.
“Welcome to the jungle!” responded host Joe Manganiello, leading Teigen to laugh and reply, “I’m not even scared of bugs!”

Entertainment Weekly was on set for filming and caught up with the violated star shortly after to see how she was holding up, and Teigen proved herself to be a good sport about the entire episode.
“I’m so embarrassed because I love bugs,” she told EW, once again laughing. “Anyone that knows me, I see any critter, any animal, and I am so nice to them. I look them dead in the eye, and I try to smile and be sweet to them. I know that when most people see a rat or a snake or a spider, that they give them the nastiest face, and I’m like: That would be so sad if you lived your whole life and people are just making nasty faces at you. And then I lost it up there!”
Having the grasshopper fly up her dress was bad enough, but then things got a bit cheeky. “I showed my butt to everybody while trying to get it out,” Teigen recalls. “It was fully in my butt crack! And then it was hooked in my dress, the poor thing.”

Poor is definitely not a word that will be used to describe winner Genat, who just walked away with $5.8 million — an amount that stunned Teigen. “I knew when I got to be face to face with him yesterday that he was somebody really special,” she says of their initial meeting. “I didn’t know how incredibly ballsy he would be. He blew everybody away. All I had heard was that he was just the most genuine, kind-hearted, good-natured person, and I really got to see that right in front of my face yesterday.”
That made for a very conflicted adversary. “It was very hard to be the banker today and be against him,” Teigen shares. “Because inside Chrissy was rooting for him, but Banker Chrissy is supposed to be very upset with him.”
That actually lined up with how Teigen wanted to play her banker. “I told them, even in real life if something bad happens to me, I laugh. I’m like, “Oh f—! I wanted to be a little bit menacing, but it’s difficult because I’m really good at being myself and not anybody else, really. So it’s hard to hide the fact that I’m rooting for him. But I didn’t really go in it with a game plan. I wanted to feel the vibe out. It was just a really collaborative, nice experience.”

And how does the Deal or No Deal Island banker think she would have done as a contestant? “Absolute s—! Without a doubt,” Teigen replies. “I would’ve been terrible in the game. I had to walk to breakfast today, and I was like, ‘Oh, holy hell!’ And that was just a mere two blocks in the heat! I don’t do well in the heat. If this were in Seattle or Alaska, I would fare better.”
And that extends to the Temple as well. “I’m not a big risk taker,” she reveals. “I also don’t make very good decisions with intuition. I don’t really trust my gut. I always doubt myself, so I would’ve had the great case and I would’ve switched it, something like that. David’s better than most because he has such good intuition and he trusts his gut. If anyone gets anything out of this program, it’s to trust your intuition. Go with your gut, because he’s done that from day one, and look where it got him.”
