Ever since it welcomed its first guests in 2021, Corona’s lush, eco-protected, island off the coast of Colombia has been an IYKYK secret for those with invites only. That all changes today, with the news that Corona Island, as the tropical paradise is officially known, is officially open to the public.

It’s now possible to book one of 10 sea-facing, tiki-style bungalows for two, each with a beachfront setting and private jacuzzi. The rate includes return transfers to Cartagena by speedboat, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and, of course, Corona beer. At the time of publishing, a King Bed Bungalow on a Saturday night in April is available for $658.

A limited number of all-inclusive day passes can also be purchased for $163, and it includes speed boat transportation to and from the island, use of a beach bed and sun lounger, and a three-course à la carte lunch.

The adults-only island serves up much more than the beach for those who make the journey from Cartagena. Along with a restaurant that plates up a menu of local flavors and ingredients, an alfresco bar called Sunclub at the southern tip of the island is set up for sunset drinks and music, while the sandy, zen lounge area at the center of the island’s only soundtrack is one of soothing waves, macaws, and titi monkeys.

Corona said that a program of “curated daytime activities and evening experiences” will be available for guests to take part in during their stay, designed to allow them to reconnect with nature. Along with yoga, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding, other eco-conscious activities include mangrove planting and coral reef restoration, which can be booked for an additional cost.

“With breathtaking landscapes, sustainable practices, and immersive outdoor activities, we invite eco-tourists and travel enthusiasts alike to explore this unique setting, where every experience reflects our dedication to preserving the beauty of the natural world,” Clarissa Pantoja, the global VP of Corona, said in the statement provided to Travel + Leisure.

Corona Island is an extension of Corona’s “100% Natural” commitment to natural ingredients and sustainability and is the only island in the world to have been awarded ocean conservation non-profit Oceanic Globa’s three-star plastic-free Blue Seal. Solar panels provide most of the island’s energy and structures have been built using traditional building techniques with design flourishes crafted by hand by local artisans. The island is also a sea turtle nesting zone.
